Anise: Pimpinella anisum, steam distilled seed, China.
Anise - This spicy sweet smelling essential oil smells just like black licorice. It can be used as a chest rub to relieve symptoms of colds, and coughs. Vaporized Anise may also help with colds and coughs.
Fishermen use it to mask human scent while fishing. Anise has estrogenlike properties, is an emmenagogue, aids childbirth, increases milk secretion, and is antispasmodic for nerves and muscles. Anise is indicated for lack of menstruation, menopause, colitis, and poor breathing due to nerves.
